It was also revealed that Iris had been held hostage by Doppler. They proceeded to unleash Maoh the Giant across the city. Unleashing the strain, innoculated reploids went berserk, destroying the city, while Doppler had assembled a large factory underground, producing the newest generation of battle robots. Cain and X were celebrating the years anniversary of Doppler Town, Doppler's programming went full maverick, despite initial resistance and morality for his friend Dr Cain. After gaining knowledge of the "legendary scientist" who created Zero, he decided to exploit Zero's relationship with X and Iris by splitting a wedge in-between them. He changed the cure using his neuro-computer device, allowing a new strain of the virus to stay dormant in reploids all-across the world.
Secretly, Doppler conducted further research and hid his Maverick personality. Doppler's mind, a genius scientist merged with the viral strain, making him self-aware that the humans had revolted against his own scientific breakthroughs - Why should he help humanity when they suppress and attack the reploids ? Unfortunately for Doppler, his proximity in the lab progressivly infected him with a stronger strain of the Maverick Virus (due to his proximity to Zero's holding chamber), which overwhelmed his own cure. Doppler would come and return secretly to the base to uncover research about Zero and hopefully find a cure to the Maverick virus. As Doppler entered, he found a broken chamber and old blueprints of what seemed to be the legendary reploid known as "Zero".
As a result, humanity hailed Dr Doppler as Maverick activity dropped to record lows, giving the UN reason to comply with the Reploids after violence between humans and reploids started with the last two reploid wars.ĭr Doppler was infected with the Maverick Virus while investigating the origins of Zero.ĭuring Dr Doppler's research on the Maverick Virus, Doppler's search reploids uncovered an entrance to a mysterious decayed lab somewhere in the mountains. After deploying it, many of the Repliforce and insurgent Maverick forces were cured with Dr Doppler's formula. Sometime after the destruction of Neo Agile in the computer lab area, Dr Cain's friend, Dr Doppler announces a cure to the Maverick virus.
